When a Compliment is No Longer a Compliment

Some months ago, Kiddo started to use a specific phrase of praise whenever he was especially enjoying his meal: "Mom, you're a great chef!"  Too cute, right?  I think he may have picked this up from those episodes of Iron Chef we've watched together.

Over time this adorable compliment has morphed into something a little different: "Mom, you're a great big chef!"  Not quite the same effect.

It's gotten to the point that yesterday while eating his soup at dinner I heard this little gem: "Mom, you're a great big huge gigantic chef!"

Thank you, son.

5 months

Somehow I didn't get any picture of BG on her actual five-month birthday.  I don't know how that's possible, considering there are pictures of everyone else in the family from that day, but there you go.  Consequently, here's a couple of pics from a few days before and after her actual five-month mark.

Enjoying the Perks

Occasionally, Brandon and I really enjoy where he works. For example, Brandon was offered some crazy good tickets to the Washington Wizards v. Orlando Magic game. And so he pounced on them. We hurriedly found a babysitter (we owe you one, Brad!) and pretended to live like the 1% for an evening.

$500 tickets. Second row, center court. Plus all the food and drinks we wanted. We had to walk on the basketball court to get to our seats. I could yell things at the refs or the players and they could hear me. Every time I raised my arms to cheer, I could see myself on the big screen. And periodically someone would come by just to offer us more free food.

It. Was. Awesome.
