That's Awkward...

Quite often, much to Brandon's chagrin, I like to dance in an embarrassing way (think Elaine from Seinfeld) to try and get a laugh from Kiddo.

But it never works.

It finally occurred to me why Kiddo doesn't find my dancing all that funny:

He thinks that's how I actually dance.

The Final Frontier

This week we had the crazy cool opportunity to see NASA's shuttle, Discovery, piggy back it's way to Dulles airport so it can retire in one of the Smithsonians.  Brandon and some coworkers were able to catch sight of it as it flew around DC.  Kiddo and I went out to the lawn in front of our apartment building, where it flew directly over us.  I was too slow to get any pics, but luckily Brandon did.  Gotta love DC.

Happy Half Birthday!

How did my baby girl go from this...

... to this?

Love you, BG!

Take a Bite

I have been a lot more lax this time around as far as baby food goes. Which means, although I didn't officially start BG on solids until the week before her six-month birthday, in actuality, she had already tried applesauce, pears, carrots, and Cherrios--all of which she loved. When it's something she especially likes, she grabs the spoon to hasten its journey into her mouth. It's incredibly cute. But I think baby cereal was a rude awakening and I really can't blame her for not liking it yet. She has since tried peas (not a big fan), squash (mostly likes it), and last night she tried potato from her first curry (liked it). Anyway, enough talk. Here's some adorable pics:

Pre-Fin and Me

We signed Kiddo up for his first swimming class, which he just finished.  Brandon was in the pool with him except for the last few classes, where the kids were in the pool by themselves.  Let me say, it was a little rough at times.  We did not love his teacher, but at least by the last class, Kiddo was a champ and was volunteering to do everything the teacher asked.  And he's pretty darn cute when he's in the pool, swimming around by himself.

Little Olympian

We signed Kiddo up for a "Little Olympians" class with the county a few months ago that just finished up.  Basically, it was a sports class that focused on a different sport every week or so.  He loved it!  Here's a short run-down of his classes (and sorry for the lack of pictures; every time I would come down from the bleachers with my camera, he would shoo me back upstairs):

Soccer:  Kiddo loves to kick the ball around.  Plus, it's a sport without a lot of rules.  Kick the ball into the goal.  Boom.  That's it.  Oh, and don't touch the ball with your hands.  Ok, that part's hard.

T-Ball:  He got to hit the ball!  He got to run around the bases!  And then do it all over again!

Basketball:  The first time they practiced dribbling, he tried a few times and then spent the rest of the time kicking the ball instead.  He still doesn't have dribbling down yet, but he's getting better.

Kickball:  Kicking?  Good.  Running around bases?  Good.  What's not to like?

Football:  He loved running around the obstacle course with the football tucked under his arm.

Lacrosse:  It was so awesome that this sport was included!  He did a great job keeping the ball in his net, although trying to pick up the ball with his net was more difficult.

Cherry Blossoms

The cherry blossoms peaked ridiculously early this year, so we didn't quite catch them in time, but it's always fun to walk around the Mall and Tidal Basin with thousands of tourists.

Brush Your Teeth

BG gets so enthralled with watching Kiddo brush his teeth that sometimes we let her have a chance as well.  BG adores Kiddo, and I think she gets a thrill from seeing her big brother show an interest in the one thing she's most enthusiastic about: putting things in your mouth.
