Our hotel was right next to the marina--a beautiful spot with a walkway all around the harbor. We ate dinner at a different restaurant every night, each with a wonderful view.
Our first day was spent at Lego Land (for the kids). CJ was unfortunately about 2 cm too short to do most of the rides, but she was a good sport about it. There was almost no one there (seriously, Thursdays in February must be the right time to go), so we could ride as many times as we wanted with rarely any waiting (and we thought there were no lines the last time we went!)
Day Two was Wild Wadi Waterpark (nominally for the kids, but mostly for Brandon)! Some friends of ours went to Dubai over Christmas and tried out all of the waterparks in Dubai (there are several). For younger kids, they said this one was the best. I don't know how the other waterparks compare, but this one was perfect. The older two could go on almost all of the slides, and there was a huge water playground by the wave pool for G2 to use. (Although she mostly just wanted to stay in the pool.) No pics here because we were too busy playing in the water, but I did snap a quick one of G2 when she and I went to the locker room for sunscreen. (Too late--I still got roasted.)
Day Three we went to the Burj Khalifa! We went up to the 125th floor, and there were still another 35 more floors above us! It was crazy how high up we were!
After the Burj, we went to the historical district and the Dubai Museum, the oldest building in the city.
Then we walked to the ferry to the see the old souks on the other side of the river. Without a doubt, the ferry rides were the kids' favorite part of the day!
It was a fabulous trip! And so great to take a break from the cold. Now to plan our next vacation....
