Last Day of School Party 2023

Last day of school! The girls both had a half-day where they showed me all they had been working on for the last term and say goodbye to their teachers.

This year's party was a little bit of a cheat because technically not everyone had had their last day of school yet. H still had another week to go, but since we would be going out of town as soon as he was done, we opted to do the party on the girls' last day.

And this year's theme? Space!

Of course we had all the space-related snacks:

Those imported Starbursts and Milky Ways were not cheap

I went all out with bakery-made cupcakes with toppers!

I never got a picture, but those sodas had glitter in them
that was pretty cool when it was shaken up

Freeze-dried fruit--aka astronaut food.
Plus a planet popper and a space light up globe thing.

Brandon got off work early to help decorate and set things up while the kids waited in Camilla's room, and then we had the party!

Our first activity was a Saturn rings (ie hula hoop) contest. Did you know that H is a champion hula hooper? Seriously. He can go on forever and do all sorts of tricks. So this wasn't really much of a contest since we already knew who would win, but every once in a while we like to see him show off his skills for us.

Next the kids made all the phases of the moon with Oreos. One of the kids might have gotten frustrated with this activity, but it's ok because every time an Oreo broke, it meant more for everyone to eat.

Next the kids put together a solar system puzzle, which had the first clue of a space mission (ie scavenger hunt) written on the back. The prize at the end was a galaxy candy bar for everyone.

We had planet (ie pepperoni) pizza for dinner while we watched the space movie that got the most votes: Zathura. No one loved the movie, but we tried all the other space snacks until we could eat any more, and then called it a night.

Another great last day of school party!
