We already knew that in order for the kids to go back to school after the holiday that they would have to pass a Covid test; however, it turns out that it wasn't necessary. The omicron variant had hit India and cases were rising, which meant the schools decided to go back to being remote.
I'll admit that I was a little bitter about it. I wasn't upset that the schools were being cautious, but it was hard to believe that almost two years into this pandemic, it seemed like we were heading back to where we started. There are night and weekend curfews in place, and it seems like just a matter of time before things lockdown. It’s frustrating.
But then I thought about how nice it was to make a special lunch for the kids today. And that the girls like to play Legos together when their school breaks align. And that the kids are now spared the hour-long bus ride twice a day and how I love the extra time that gives us in the mornings. And I also know that we’ve been here before—twice—and that we can handle it.So no, it’s not ideal, and I hope it will be short-lived. But we’ll be ok.
