Preschool Texas Day

One of the fun things about living in Texas is celebrating Texas Day at school.  BG's preschool had everyone dress up in their western wear (BG was excited to dress up until it was actually time to do it), hot dogs for lunch, and a petting zoo.  It was so fun to hang out with BG's class for a little while, and G2 loved the animals.

Lost: Tooth

At his recent appointment, the dentist pointed out that not only did Kiddo have two loose teeth, but he also had a new one already growing in.  Oops.  Eventually his tooth was loose enough that it was ready to come out.  Kiddo was a little scared about it, so we said a family prayer that he would be brave and that it would come out soon.  For the next two days, it was in all of our prayers.  Finally, Kiddo said he was ready to let Brandon pull it.  Brandon had Kiddo hold on to his arm and squeeze it tight.  Kiddo closed his eyes, and then Brandon pulled it out.  Finally!

Once it was bed time, BG refused to go to sleep because she was afraid of the coming tooth fairy.  In a stroke of genius, Brandon told BG that he would call the tooth fairy's cell phone and tell her that he would exchange the tooth himself, and the tooth fairy could pick it up from him instead.  BG calmed right down and went to sleep.  Good thing we're on such good terms with the tooth fairy!

1 YEAR OLD!

The past year has gone by so fast!  I can't believe G2 is a year old!  Brandon was out of town for her actual birthday, so we celebrated a few days late.  She loved being sung to by everyone, but we somehow didn't get any cake pictures (ok, strawberry muffin pictures).  Poor deprived third child!  G2's favorite present was undoubtedly the little toy English bulldog Brandon brought back from his trip.  It's the perfect size for her to carry in the crook of her arm--which she loves to do.
We love you, G2!  We can't imagine our lives without you!

Itsy Bitsy Spiders

For the past several months, I've been finding spiders everywhere--in my purse, my dresser, my shoes--but most often I find them in my bed.  In October, we received several plastic spiders, so I hid them in the Kiddo's and BG's rooms as a joke.  I don't remember how long it took them to find the spiders, but it didn't take long for a new game to develop: once you find a spider, you must hide it again.  Since then it's become a game played daily, or even several times a day, depending on the hiding spot.  My favorite spots are the ones in plain sight, but rarely seen.

Last week, Henry took the game to a new level of creativity when he labeled the spiders before hiding them under my bed covers:

(And, yeah, I put our Christmas sheets on in January.  Don't judge.)

The Scowl

A couple of weeks ago, I gave G2 a cracker, but realized a few minutes later that I had left the entire package of crackers with her.  When I went back into the living room, she was surrounded by them--many with a single little bite taken out.  After taking the package of crackers away, she looked at me like this:

The next day at lunch, I was trying to feed G2 some baby food (she still dislikes baby food, btw), and she was apparently pretty offended that I would even try:

Since then, The Scowl has made a regular appearance for a variety of reasons: meeting new people, greeting friends, picking her up, putting her down, feeding her, cleaning her up, etc.  If anything, The Scowl is getting more and more pronounced.

As proof, this picture is from this morning, for seemingly no reason at all:

To clarify, G2 is still as sweet and happy as ever.  But you never know when she will give you The Scowl.
